It appears that YouTube has been actively providing users with improved experiences over the past few months.
The CEO of YouTube, Susan Wojcicki, only committed last week to improving user experience through new testing and experiments.
In keeping with this, YouTube has released a new update called the “Explore tab,” which will provide users with a greater selection of suggested videos.
You may soon get new 'Explore' tab on YouTube
As reported, not many people have had access to the Explore tab functionality, which is presently in the testing stage.
Currently, just 1% of users of the iPhone YouTube app can access this feature. It may take several months for the YouTube team to approve the feature once it has undergone extensive testing.
Prior to then, the feature will go through testing across a variety of platforms, maybe including Android as well. With a wider selection of videos to watch, the new tab seeks to assist the viewer.
Right now, YouTube's recommended videos are based on the user's previous searches and viewing history.
According to a YouTube video featuring Director of Product Management Tom Leung, "Explore is intended to help you be exposed to various kinds of videos, topics, or channels that you might not otherwise come across, but they are still personalized."
The app's bottom navigation bar has changed with the addition of the Explore tab.
The Home, Subscriptions, Explore, Library, and Activity tabs are now included in the new layout in addition to the tabs for Trending, Inbox, Home, and Subscriptions that are now present.
The timing of this feature's rollout by the video-sharing website is perfect as Facebook, IGTV, Instagram, and other video service apps are all making waves in the video space.
Thus, it is now crucial for YouTube to continue participating.
The Creator Insider channel was used to announce the new functionality. Wojcicki recently brought up the channel during his address; it serves as the unofficial home for YouTube updates.
The Creator Insider channel is meant to host all of the weekly updates and videos from behind the scenes, answer questions from viewers, and much more.
