Substack Video Features to Compete with YouTube & Patreon
Substack is now squarely competing with sites like YouTube and Patreon with the recent introduction of a slew of new video features.
Among the video capabilities are paywalls that content providers may customize and the ability to upload videos directly.
Users had to post videos to YouTube and embed links before this. The dashboard is now where you can access the upload function.
Podcasters who wish to appeal to both audiences can even have the audio and visuals automatically divided. You now have the same degree of flexibility with paywall choices as non-video customers.
Substack adds new video tools
Video content creators can give away a portion of their work for free while keeping the remainder behind a paywall. The prompt to become a paying subscriber should seamlessly flow from the free preview section.
Additionally, a new artificial intelligence technology creates transcripts from videos for individuals who enjoy reading.
Users can submit the transcript to the main feed; it is automatically prepared together with the video upload. In addition, viewers can navigate to any segment of the film by clicking anywhere on the transcript.
