TikTok Expands "Add to Music App" Feature to 19 More Nations
TikTok is expanding the "Add to Music App" function to 19 other countries, only one month after it made its debut in the US and the UK.
As the name implies, users may save tunes to playlists on streaming services like Spotify, Amazon Music, and Apple Music with this feature.
TikTok ‘Add to Music App’ feature expands to 19 additional countries
Long praised for its alleged efficacy as a tool for discovering music, TikTok has now expanded its Add to Music App to the following nations (in addition to the US and the UK):
Canada | Argentina | Colombia | Germany |
Netherlands | France | Italy | Spain |
Ireland | Sweden | Turkey | Japan |
Thailand | Malaysia | Vietnam | Philippines |
South Africa | Saudi Arabia | United Arab Emirates |
The Add to Music App's wider availability is only the most recent in a long series of music-related initiatives from TikTok, which has allegedly received over $10 billion in customer spending since its start.
Despite the intense government scrutiny TikTok is subject to—which includes multiple bans, multimillion-dollar fines, and lawsuits regarding the app's purportedly detrimental effects on children and teens—the well-known platform signed many agreements in and around the music industry in 2023.
Anticipating 2024, it will be worthwhile to keep a close eye on the app's music-related developments, particularly since it will begin the year with both its SoundOn distribution service and the previously mentioned TikTok Music in operation and, crucially, bolstered by a variety of smaller-scale offerings.
