YouTube Creators Can Dub Videos In Other Languages

By enabling creators to dub videos in other spoken languages, YouTube intends to move beyond translated subtitles.

According to The Verge, the business has revealed at VidCon recently that it is testing Aloud, an AI-powered dubbing service created at Google's Area 120 incubator.

By using the tool, YouTube creators would be able to reach a larger worldwide audience without having to invest the time and frequently significant money needed to dub traditional ways (using human translators and narrators).

With the use of AI, Aloud guarantees a "quality dub in just a few minutes."

The tool first provides a text-based translation that creators can review and modify before producing a dub.

Users can select alternative narrators, publishing options, and more.

What's more, according to Aloud's website, the service is offered "free of charge."

According to YouTube's VP of product management, Amjad Hanif, "hundreds" of creators are actively participating in the tool's testing.

With "more languages coming soon," it is presently accessible in English and allows you to dub in Spanish and Portuguese.

Toggling the "Audio track" option can be found under the gear icon, immediately below the subtitles, from the user's perspective.

The science channel promo for the Amoeba Sisters, which employs English as its native tongue and offers a dub option in Spanish made by Aloud's AI, serves as an illustration of it.

Without doing anything else, the ability to quickly subtitle languages can increase a creator's audience, Google stated.

The release date for Aloud's dubbing tool has not yet been announced.

But in the future, YouTube will "make translated audio tracks sound like the creator's voice, with more expression and lip sync," Hanif said.
